4/19/2023 0 Comments Serato dj controller![]() The DJ-505 gives you the tools to move beyond mixing music to creating beats and rhythms on the fly that sync to your Serato DJ Pro tracks, enabling the creation of unique transitions, live remixes, beefed-up classic tracks, or your own original music. The Roland DJ-505 is a two-channel, four-deck Serato DJ Pro controller that blends the advanced performance capabilities of Serato DJ Pro with the legendary sounds and sequencing of Roland’s TR-909, TR-808, TR-707, and TR-606 drum machines. If moving up,from an entry-level controller and you're not in the need for a true four channel controller, this is an excellent option.New Tools to Inspire New Performance Possibilities I just love this controller! I was moving from a Mixtrack Pro and missed the reverse symmetry of the Numark products but that's just a personal preference. It handled a drop during transport without a scratch. It has a metal top and plastic sides that feel very substantial. The build quality is excellent in this price range. ![]() You also have good options to adjust the sound via EQ, trim, up faders, and in the settings menu as well. The sound quality is soooo much better than the Mixtrack Pro I had been using. I haven't even gotten to the Pad Plus mode yet and not sure I'll ever need to. Anyway, every time I perform I come up with something new to do with the pads, filters and effects. My only small grip is the EQ's are not infinite kills. It's a good subtle touch to help you differentiate the knobs when performing in darkened spaces. The EQ knobs also have a similar feel though the low pass/high pass filter is more plasticky. The pads are awesome! They have a nice somewhat rubbery feel to them. Lots of great options for cool transitions and music color. This has taken my skills to another level. I'm not at all disappointed in my decision. I didn't have the coin for the SX and thought this had a better build quality and long term progression ability as compared the the Numark. When I was in the market for a new controller it was between this, a Mixtrack Quad and a DDJ SX. I'm not the only reviewer talking about early issues with this controller so I remain skeptical on its true reliability. Maybe I got unlucky and purchased a few Pioneer lemons, but my honest recommendation is to either upgrade to a higher grade Pioneer (like the DDJSX) or go to another brand. Read through the other reviews and decide for yourself. My DJ's and I can only be as good as our technology and the companies I trust. It's the same expectation that my customers put on me and the people who work for me. Brides, venues, and other wedding vendors trust my company to be able to perform flawlessly at their "once in a lifetime" event and I expect the products I use to be nearly flawless. Intermittent problems are especially concerning. Every component they sell should work perfectly out of the box. I hope Pioneer will take this review seriously and look hard at their quality control. We're now going to try our luck on a Numark NVII by going back to the brand we worked with before (even if it is less known for being a superior brand).Īs a side note - our components are always handled properly and we always use the appropriate Magma, Odyssey, or travel case needed for the component. Meanwhile, I have had to send back two Pioneer DDJSB2's and one DDJSR for being unusable right out of the box. If I purchased a Pioneer DDJSX2, the quality would probably be much higher, however, the cost vs risk is too great for my company.Īdditionally, we never had any issues with our old Numark V7's and they performed at hundreds of weddings. It's possible that this may be because I purchased lower grade models from Pioneer and higher grade models from Numark. I have been told over and over again by peers that Pioneer is a superior brand to Numark but I'm just not convinced. ![]() (Our older DJ units were using two Numark V7's, Serato Itch and an independent Numark mixer). We were hoping for an affordable switch to a more compact DJ unit. I can't say that I completely trust the other two DDJSR components I still own. However, I own a multi-unit DJ company and we expect our gear to be reliable. I realize this is considered a mid-grade (at best) model, so I wouldn't expect the quality to be the highest. That being said, I'm still disappointed in the quality of this particular Pioneer. If you have a reliable DDJSR component, you will enjoy the simplicity and easy mixing controls, beat matching, effects, and EQ's which work well with Serato DJ. There were no other issues on the defective unit and the RCA outputs worked well without problems. We had an intermittent problem with the defective unit as the aux input and the 1/4 inch right and left outputs would cut in and out. I purchased three of these units for my DJ company and one of them was defective right out of the box.
